More Hunger

Hunger, desperation, pursuit; all words synonymous with an active Christian lifestyle. Well they should be synonymous but it doesn’t seem that they are. Most churches are full of people who are content with showing up once a week to see their friends and sing a few songs. They are more interested in the social aspect of church instead of the constant pursuit of chasing after God. Jesus said that those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled (Matt. 5:6) and a handful of other verses speak to seeking God with an unquenchable thirst and an insatiable hunger as the one in Psalm 63:1.

The reality is that God responds to hungry people.

Hunger for more.
Desperation for more.
Pursuit for more.

The cry if your heart should be for more; anything less isn’t a pursuit it’s a plateau. Being perpetually hungry for more of God is exactly what He wants. Don’t ever be satisfied. Keep knocking, seeking, and asking for more of His presence and for Him to use you in more amazing ways. He will respond. And then you will find yourself addicted to His presence and the phrase “more Lord” will become the most common thing you utter each day.

You Can’t Not Be Changed

One supernatural encounter with God is all it takes to change a person.  When God shows up and shifts your reality you immediately recognize that you have encountered the one who has created everything.  Peter realized this in Luke chapter 5 when, after seeing a miracle of two boatloads of fish weighing down their ships, “amazement had seized him.”  And it wasn’t just him, the verse continues with “and all his companions.”  They were all amazed and they were all changed.  I have seen similar reactions with Muslims who were physically healed by the same Jesus that they don’t follow.  The look of confusion in their eyes is unmistakable as they encounter the Messiah.  These encounters will change even those who don’t believe.  Now listen, praying a little prayer is nice but if you are not encountering the presence of God than you need to press in a little harder.  Take more time to spend with him and I guarantee your reality will change and you will begin to have “new normals”.  You simply can’t not be changed when he shows up.
