Danger…

“The devil is attacking me.” I don’t know how many times I have heard someone use this phrase or a similar one to describe a situation they were going through. It is really easy to fall into this trap of thinking that every time we are opposed it must be the devil trying to stop us. Almost as if the devil is trying to keep some future event from happening by coming against us. Sure, the enemy does try to block us at times but it’s not quite what most Christians think it is. The devil doesn’t know the future (outside of what he can read in the bible) but when he sees a person pursuing God it scares him and he reacts out of fear. He doesn’t know where God is going to take you but he does know that if you continue to pursue God you will become a danger to his kingdom. So he tries different tactics to slow down or completely end your pursuit. He knows from past experience that if he makes it uncomfortable for you then there is a better chance of you giving up. But it’s all smoke and mirrors. It’s a game. And we tend to give him more credit than he is due. The devil doesn’t have any authority. Jesus said “all power and authority has been given to me” so that leaves the devil with absolutely nothing.
