Passionate Love

I love that God loves us so much that he has created a desire within us to have a relationship with him. I love that nothing that can separate us from his love. But I’m a little sad when I think about all the believers who settle for so little when they could have so much more.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8:38-39

Nothing can pull us away from God’s love. And yet at the same time we often shy away from the opportunity to jump into his arms and fully experience the love that he has for us. We need more passion. We need more passionate pursuit. We love that God desires to do so much for us but shouldn’t we want to do so much for him as well? Shouldn’t we want to reciprocate that love back in a similar way. Can we flip this verse from Romans to say that nothing can separate God from our love? If we can’t, then we are probably not pursuing him passionately enough.

I have this theory that if Christians would put even one percent of the passion God has for us into our end of the relationship it would drastically change the landscape of the church. We cannot allow anything…no thought, no action, no perspective…to come between us and our relationship with the one who gave everything to be part of our lives.
