Perfect timing…

Have you ever noticed how so many people in the Bible had to wait, sometimes for a long time, before different promises of God actually happened? Abraham and Sarah waited a long time for Isaac and even made some pretty significant mistakes along the way. But I am encouraged by this story in a few different ways. Hebrew 11 props Abraham and Sarah up as having great faith yet the story in Genesis shows Sarah laughing at the notion of becoming pregnant. So there must have been more to her faith than we realize. And think about this, if Isaac had been born 12 years earlier he probably would have never married Rebekah, which then means there wouldn’t have been a Jacob and Esau, and the history we know today would be completely different. So even though Abraham and Sarah made a huge mistake with Hagar, it didn’t affect God’s timeline. Isaac still showed up exactly when God had planned it. When it’s time, and if you are in the right place, God will accelerate everything into position. Even if you made some mistakes along the way. I think the enemy wants to discourage us by telling us we aren’t good enough or we are being delayed because of past mistakes. Moses hung out in the desert tending to sheep for 40 years but when God’s timing arrived, the scenario was accelerated and the Israelites left Egypt a few weeks later. And he murdered someone; that’s what put him in the desert! Waiting isn’t fun but as long as we use that time to pursue him we will eventually find ourselves in the middle of the acceleration known as his perfect timing.
